For the fourth consecutive year, the Broadband and Health Information Technology (HealthIT) Usage Survey will chart the availability and adoption of key broadband-enabled telehealth services, tracking the growth in availability across the state, as well as the depth of utilization for HealthIT including Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Health Information Exchange (HIE) in hospital, physician practice, clinic and other healthcare facilities.
The survey addresses demonstration of “Meaningful Use” as defined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, institutional plans for participation in a HIE, and supports the research of the Virginia Tech “Veterans and Broadband Access in Virginia: Implications for Healthcare Planning and Policy” project. Results of the survey will be utilized at the state and federal levels to document progress and identify new opportunities to extend the benefits of broadband-enabled health technologies.
